ABOUT: Indo-American Community Services

Indo-American Community services (IACS) is a not for profit organization established with a mission to empower the South Asian community in the United States with various community building programs. Our four pillar programs include a South Asian Woman’s Conference, Leadership Intern program, Diversity Job Fairs and Professional and Leadership Networking conferences.

Diversity Job Fair:

The mission of the Diversity Job Fair is to create a forum for job seekers, prospective employers, recruiters and other organizations involved in human resources to connect and collaborate with each other.  Many Fortune 500 companies attend the job fair including Allstate, W.W. Grainger, Pepsi, ITW, Dover Corporation, Morgan Stanley, CME Group, Morningstar, Fifth Third Bank, IBM, TCS, L&T Infotech, Tech Mahindra, HCL Global, Hospira, Pepsi, Walgreens, Adobe, Alcatel-Lucent, Nokia and others. Past fairs also attracted several hundred students from many of the top universities in the region including, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, University of Illinois, IIT and Roosevelt University. Many governmental agencies have also participated in the event.

Professional and Leadership Networking:

IACS’ annual Leadership Networking program provides an opportunity for young South Asian Americans to meet with peers and exchange ideas, share common interests and engage with professionals in leading public and corporate leadership roles. Past speakers at the event have included Dan Korte, President, Defense Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, Terri Friel, Dean of Roosevelt University Business School, Manu Bhardwaj, Senior Advisor at the US State Department, Toby Chadhuri, Strategic Communications at White House and Aruna Miller Maryland State Delegate.

South Asian Woman conference:

IACS promotes gender equality and believes that women are a key success factor in every family and community. The South Asian Women’s Conference is designed to inspire and empower South Asian women by bringing together women from all walks of life and by identifying creative strategies for successful living through educational workshops and motivational speakers. Some of the motivational speakers and panelists in the past conferences have included Jan Schakowsky, Congresswoman from Illinois, K. Sujata President of the Chicago Foundation for Women and Sona Chawla, President of Ecommerce at Walgreens.

Internship program:

Through the IACS Leadership Internship Program we take promising college students and place them in Congressional offices for an eight-week summer internship accompanied by a structured leadership curriculum. Students then complete a project applying their learning from the summer internship program and are inducted into a leadership community. In addition to the internship in Washington DC, participants attend special meetings and events that are designed to expose them to the South Asian American political diaspora. Through our corporate internship program we also help selected students to get into corporate intern programs. Past programs and events have included meetings with elected officials, Ambassadors and personnel working in US Congress, Federal government, local and state agencies.
