Mentee's Role

  • The mentor will contact you to schedule your initial meeting. Prepare for your first meeting by making an agenda that includes your ideas and aspirations and what you hope to achieve from the mentoring program. Submit the initial mentee feedback form to IACS after your first meeting with the mentor.
  • Once you have established a schedule with the mentor be punctual for the mentoring sessions. To make the most of your time, try emailing your questions to the mentor ahead of time.
  • Develop active listening skills to help you get the most out of the meetings.
  • Establish a trusting relationship with the mentor – make commitments and stick to them. This helps to reinforce and maintain a positive relationship.
  • Capitalize on the mentor’s valuable experience and be open to suggestions and criticism.
  • Respect your mentor’s boundaries and maintain a strict working relationship. Mentors are professionals and have demanding schedules and limited time.
  • Follow any advice or directions suggested by the mentor and share the outcomes on a regular basis.
  • Be proactive - ask questions, share concerns and listen to feedback.
  • Have a flexible approach to changing expectations or plans.
  • Complete the mentee final feedback form and the IACS program feedback form
