Indo-American Community Services (IACS) is conducting Young Leaders program to help young mid-level managers. This program prepares the young managers for break through career growth and global business opportunities by providing skills, professional relationship strategies, financial aspects and global perspective. Breaking through requires fast starts, sustained momentum and inspired managerial practice to actively build career success with global reach, organizational impact and personal fulfillment.

The two-day Young Leaders Program consists of workshops on Leadership, Finance and Strategy during the day of June 14th and extends to the IACS Executive Leadership Conference extends to June 14th evening to June 15th afternoon. The participants interact with some of the corporate business executives throughout the program. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner will be provided throughout the program.

This Young Leaders Program aims to provide new tools needed for participants to ignite their careers and global contributions. Working alongside fellow participants and in this program, you will develop insight and build competencies to increase your effectiveness as a manager of teams and an individual contributor.

Applicants are selected based on the following criteria

  • Have to be an Indian American and have to be around 35 years old or younger.
  • Have to be a manager or at higher level at their work.
  • Based on the recommendation letter from their management
  • Based on academic and professional experience
  • Based on the 200 words write up about their future plans

It is free for selected individual including breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the program.

    Chief Executive Officer

    Kunal Kapoor, CFA, is chief executive officer of Morningstar. Before assuming his current role in 2017, he served as president, responsible for product development and innovation, sales and marketing, and driving strategic prioritization across the firm. 

    Since joining Morningstar in 1997 as a data analyst, Kapoor has held a variety of roles at the firm, including leadership positions in research and innovation. He served as director of mutual fund research and was part of the team that launched Morningstar Investment Services, Inc., before moving on to other roles including director of business strategy for international operations, and later, president and chief investment officer of Morningstar Investment Services. During his tenure, he has also led Morningstar.com® and the firm’s data business as well as its global products and client solutions group. 

    Kapoor holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and environmental policy from Monmouth College and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago, and served on the board of PitchBook, a private firm that provides a comprehensive private equity and venture capital database, prior to its acquisition by Morningstar in late 2016. Kapoor is also a member of the board of trustees of The Nature Conservancy in Illinois. In 2010, Crain’s Chicago Business named him to its annual 40 Under 40 class, a list that includes professionals from a variety of industries who are contributing to Chicago’s business, civic, and philanthropic landscape.

    Anne Pramaggiore is president and CEO of ComEd, an electric utility company delivering electricity to 3.8 million customers in Chicago and Northern Illinois.​

     

    Pramaggiore joined ComEd in 1998 to work on the company's transition to competitive energy markets under the Illinois Consumer Choice Law of 1997. In her role as ComEd's lead lawyer and as head of Regulatory Policy, she led major policy work around the restructuring of the Illinois electric industry.

     

    In 2009, Pramaggiore was appointed as ComEd's COO and became responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on the electric grid and in customer operations. In that role, she led the company's effort to set the legislative framework for ComEd's smart grid build-out, a leading model nationally for modernizing one of the largest utility systems in the country.

     

    Pramaggiore was promoted to her current position in February 2012. She is the first female to hold the post of president and CEO at the electric utility.

     
    Pramaggiore serves as a board member of Chicago Federal Reserve Board, Motorola Solutions, Inc., and several civic and community organizations.
     
     
    She is a 1989 graduate of DePaul University School of Law and served as editor-in-chief of the school's Law Review. She has a bachelor's degree in Communications and Theater from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

    Senior Vice President, Plastic Packaging and Protective Solutions

    Vicki B. Arthur, 58, is Senior Vice President, Plastic Packaging and Protective Solutions at Sonoco Products Company. In this role, Arthur has responsibility for Sonoco’s plastics businesses, including flexible packaging; thermoformed, injection molded and extruded plastics; and Protective Solutions, which includes the Company’s consumer durable paper-based packaging, molded foam components and temperature-assured packaging operations. Combined, these businesses have 52 operating facilities in North America, Europe and Asia with combined sales of approximately $1.5 billion and more than 4,000 associates.

    Prior to this promotion, she was Vice President of Protective Solutions. Before heading Sonoco’s fastest-growing business segment, Arthur was Vice President of Global Corporate Customers from 2008 through 2011, where she had P&L responsibility for Sonoco’s seven largest global packaged food (CPG) customers with annual sales of more than $1 billion.

    Arthur joined Sonoco in 1985 and has held senior leadership positions in finance/accounting, sales and operations. During her tenure at Sonoco, she has held numerous management-level positions in corporate accounting, financial reporting and Treasury. She served as Staff Vice President and Controller for several Sonoco businesses before being named Sonoco’s Staff Vice President and Corporate Treasurer in 2002. Arthur reports to Sonoco’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and is a member of the Company’s Corporate Executive Committee. She also provides executive oversight for the Company’s Global Quality and Service Excellence programs.

    Arthur graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in accounting and originally worked in public accounting, becoming a Certified Public Accountant. She maintains an active CPA license in South Carolina. In 2000, she received an MBA from Duke University.

    Arthur is a member of AICPA and the South Carolina Association of CPAs. She is a member of the South Carolina Automotive Association and Automotive Council of the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance. She remains involved in community activities, serving as past president of the Hartsville YMCA and on the boards of Coker College, the Byerly Foundation and the Darlington County Economic Development Partnership.

    Arthur is married with two grown children. She is a passionate tennis player and remains involved in competitive leagues and associations and is a member of the USTA.

    Best became the CHRO upon close of the Exelon-Constellation merger in March 2012. She is responsible for developing, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating Exelon’s HR function and performance. She participates in the development and implementation of Exelon’s plans and programs as a strategic member of the executive team. Best led post-merger integration work, including staffing and selection of 25 percent of Exelon positions, development of the employee benefit platform, total compensation program alignment, and integration of diversity, talent management and succession processes.

    Prior to this role, Best was the vice president of human resources for Exelon Generation, which includes the nuclear fleet, power operations, and power trading. She was responsible for setting the human resources strategy and service delivery for 9,500 employees as a member of the senior leadership team. This includes employee relations, compensation, talent development and retention, recruitment, pipeline development, demographic analysis, and knowledge transfer and retention. She has worked as a lead on prior merger, integration and new business activities. She also was involved with the Nuclear Energy Institute working groups and the Clean and Safe Energy Coalition’s minority business steering committee.

     

    Previously, Best was the director of human resources for Exelon Business Services Company and led the HR function to support the finance, IT, supply and legal groups. She also was the director of leadership development for Exelon. In that position, she was responsible for executive development for the company’s top leadership positions, as well as design and delivery of programmatic leadership training across the company.  She was also accountable for the design and governance of talent management processes that are implemented in all Exelon operating business units.   

     

    Best has worked in varying human resources capacities at Exelon’s Quad Cities Station, Dresden Station, nuclear headquarters, and corporate offices. Prior to Exelon, she worked at Sara Lee Corporation and Ravenswood Hospital while pursuing her master’s degree. .

    Srinivas Veeramasuneni is Vice President, Chief Innovation Officer, at USG Corporation. He is responsible for leading the Corporate Innovation Center (CIC) organization and the promotion of collaborative research to enhance USG’s competitive position and profitability by continuously developing effective research programs. 

    Veeramasuneni first joined USG in 1998 with a Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering from the University of Utah and has held various research and management positions during his tenure with the company. 

    Throughout his career, Veeramasuneni has been involved in innovation strategy, talent management, change management, technology road mapping and process improvements. 

    Veeramasuneni has an extensive background in surface science and related application areas, including crystallization, mineral processing, and building materials.  He published nearly 25 papers in surface science related journals. 

    Veeramasuneni has been awarded 12 U.S. patents related to building materials, and has received numerous awards, including: the AIME Rossiter W. Raymond Memorial Award; Technology awards from USG Corporation; and SME Industrial Minerals Division Young Scientist Award. He was recently recognized as a 2017 Chicago Business Leader of Color by Chicago United. 

    Veeramasuneni is active in external organizations and has held executive positions in ASTM committees, Industrial Minerals Division of SME, and Innovation Research Interchange (IRI). He is currently serving as a Board Member of LUMITY and Illinois Science & Technology Coalition (ISTC).

Earlier in his career, he was involved in software development, distributed computing architecture, e-commerce and mobile solutions, and worked at technology startups and consulting companies.
